Lend a hand, change a homecoming
You don’t have to have served to serve. Cook a meal, mentor a resident, share a trade, or drive a veteran to an appointment — every hour matters.
Why it matters
A few hours of your time is someone else’s fresh start
Rooster’s Place runs on neighbors who show up. The veterans here served their country; volunteering is a way for the rest of us to serve them back — not with pity, but with presence.
Whatever you bring — a hot meal, a trade, a car, or simply a willingness to listen — there is a place for it here. We’ll match you to something that fits your time and your gifts, and you’ll see the difference it makes firsthand.

How volunteers help
Six ways to make a real difference
Pick what fits you — or tell us you’ll go wherever you’re needed. Every role below directly supports a veteran rebuilding their life in Queens.
Cook & share a meal
Prepare or serve a warm dinner and sit down to eat with the household. A shared table does as much healing as the food.
Mentor a resident
Offer a steady ear and honest encouragement. Sometimes the difference is one person who shows up week after week.
Job & resume help
Coach a veteran through a resume, mock interviews, or connecting service experience to civilian careers.
Drive to appointments
Give a lift to a VA visit, an interview, or a housing walkthrough. Reliable transportation opens every other door.
Skilled trades & repairs
Carpenters, electricians, painters — lend your trade to keep the residence safe, comfortable, and dignified.
Events & fundraising
Help plan a dinner, run a donation drive, or spread the word. Every event you power keeps the lights on.
