Rooster's Place

About Rooster's Place

A watchful place at first light

The rooster calls at dawn — the promise that no matter how dark the night, morning comes. That’s the promise we make to every veteran who walks through our door in Queens.

Our mission

To end veteran homelessness in our corner of New York — one door at a time.

Too many of the men and women who served end up without a safe place to sleep. The reasons are rarely simple — injury, loss, the hard transition back to civilian life. What they need isn’t a lecture. It’s a real home and someone who will stand watch beside them.

Rooster’s Place exists to be that home. We provide supportive, transitional living for veterans experiencing homelessness in Queens — combining a safe roof with the case management, benefits help, and community that turns a rough patch into a fresh start.

We welcome veterans of every branch and every era. Whatever the mission was, whatever came after — here, you’re home.

What we stand on

Our values

Dignity first

Every veteran is greeted as the person who once raised their hand for this country — never as a case number.

Nobody left behind

The oath we honor cuts both ways. We don’t give up on a resident because the road gets hard.

Rooted in Queens

We’re neighbors, not a hotline. Support is local, personal, and face-to-face.

Whole-person care

Housing is the start. Health, purpose, and belonging are the destination.

Who we serve

For the veteran who ran out of options

We support veterans in and around Queens who are unsheltered, staying in shelters, couch-surfing, or at imminent risk of losing housing. Whether you’re a veteran seeking a place yourself, or a family member, caseworker, or fellow service member trying to help one, we’re here.
